Chuiling’s foray into the F&B industry is likely to be described by her peers as a real surprise, and some may even wonder about this move (with a raised eyebrow), given her accounting and finance background. To her, it was a pure combination of luck, opportunity and passion colliding at the right time. As the saying goes, the stars were aligned. After 10 years in the hospitality industry in various strategic and corporate roles, Chuiling has finally entered the heart of the business: operations. Chuiling is currently the Director of F&B Operations at Marina Bay Sands, managing a myriad of celebrity chef restaurants and the in-room dining operations of the 2,561-rooms integrated resort. Prior to her current appointment, she was the Director of Development in the same company, and was the key liaison between all operating departments and various stakeholders responsible for design and construction of the Marina Bay Sands’ expansion project.
Her passion for the hospitality industry is second to none. She was part of the pre-opening Finance team at Marina Bay Sands when the resort opened its doors to the public in 2010. She then went to earn her MBA in Hospitality Management from ESSEC Business School in Paris, France, to further hone her skills in the sector. From then onwards, with finance as the foundation of her educational background, she assumed the role of the Director of Hotel Analysis at Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts Pte Ltd, and as the Assistant Director of Asset Management for Frasers Hospitality Trust, before returning to Marina Bay Sands.
Although her current role requires an "all hands on deck" operational approach, Chuiling adopts a strategic and data-driven mindset to lead and manage her teams. Off the restaurant floors and her desk, Chuiling is an avid cyclist and is a Rapha Ambassador in Asia. She loves her time in the saddle, to unwind and connect with the growing cycling community in Singapore.
