Christine Rose Steiffer can thank the DC UX community for helping turn her passions for empathy and technology into a career. She has learned a great deal from participating in local meet up groups and volunteering with the UXDC Conference. She now works as a UX Designer for Octo Consulting on assignment with the General Services Administration, and works directly with the CTO of Octo to grow the company's UX practice as a whole. She has brought her usability expertise to projects with the US Postal Service, the FDA, and a variety of small businesses and non-profits in the area. She is currently a lead volunteer with the OpenIDEO DC Chapter working on a project with ImpactHub to help decrease the recidivism rate in DC, and is serving as Treasurer of the UXPA DC Chapter. Her involvement with these groups has had a direct impact on her own process of 'breaking into UX' within the DC community, so she is excited to share her story to help benefit others.
