At the mere age of 20, while finishing up her studies at Old Dominion University, Chanel received a vision to start a nonprofit organization for inner city girls in her hometown area. She wanted a program that would provide them with the skills and exposure they needed to be confident and focused in school and excited about their future. After countless hours of research, an opportunity presented itself for the organization to launch A Bigger Picture, Inc. and it was approved as a 501(c)(3) organization in January 2012. Since then this passionate youth advocate, with the help of her volunteers and Board of Directors, has turned an idea into a scalable program now consistently rolled out in two schools in the Washington, DC area. A Bigger Picture, Inc. also provides a free annul conference for girls that provide a day of fun, education and empowerment for over 100 local teens.
