Bora is an award-winning interdisciplinary designer who leverages design practice at the intersection of visual communication and design research for social change. She currently serves as a Design Strategy Lead at the LA Mayor’s Innovation Team. Her role is to lead design research and provide design solutions to help leaders and staff implement user-centered design as a tool for community engagement so they can generate more responsive interventions for the residents. Prior to joining the LA Mayor’s Innovation Team, she served as a Managing Partner at verynice. Her work focused on developing practice-based volunteer programs using pro bono contracts as a gateway to embed design processes in small to big organizations like the UNICEF and Ashoka’s Youth Venture, among other non-profits. Bora holds a BFA degree in Graphic Design with a concentration in Environmental Design from Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA degree in Media Design Practices from Art Center College of Design.
