After a 20-year career at Microsoft leading design efforts for Encarta Encyclopedia, Windows Media Center, Zune, Xbox, and establishing the Microsoft “Metro” Design Language, Bill took the show on the road and founded Tectonic, a user experience designfirm based in Seattle’s Capital Hill neighborhood.
Tectonic helps some of the word’s top brands envision next generation software experience; including Bang & Olufsen, Amazon, Microsoft, Beats Music, Sports Illustrated, Samsung, and many others. Bill and team work with clients to help define their user experience strategy and the unique expression of their brand through software. Bill studied design at Art Center College of Design and currently teaches design at the University of Washington. Early in his career Bill judged design submissions for Communication Arts Magazine and won CA and IDSA awards for Encarta Encyclopedia, IDSA for Windows Media Center and recently IDSA Gold for Zune HD.
