    Benjamin Bell

Ben Bell knows what it’s like to try to break into data science. In September 2014, he drove to San Francisco from his home in New Haven, CT to attend the first data science bootcamp called Zipfian Academy. Over the next three years, Ben worked building machine learning pipelines and various data products for startups in the Bay (including Idibon building custom text categorization tools and Pilotly in the entertainment space) both as a staff data scientist and in his own consulting business. Over the past two years, Ben has been teaching data science and has had the pleasure of working with dozens of students, taking many of them from little or no data science knowledge or coding ability all the way through developing machine learning projects for their portfolios.

As a data scientist, Ben specializes in building data products that generate organizational value, as well as using statistics and machine learning techniques to derive insights from data that can be used to inform product and business decisions. He has experience dealing with a wide variety of business problems in both the startup world and the Fortune 500. While Ben is at work, his mom puts on a patriotic leotard, a cape, and knee-high, high heeled boots and fights crime as a super heroine.
