Bec Carey-Grieve has extensive experience and expertise gained from over 20 years working in the arts and culture organisations in Australia and overseas. She currently works as a cultural producer for the Footscray University Town initiative where she curates a public program that include exhibitions, public art and place-based projects, the Game Changers Conversation Series, seminars and community celebrations in Footscray.
Her work involves collaborating with community and industry partners including councils, artists, corporation and businesses, community organisations and festivals. This initiative is a collaboration between Victoria University and Maribyrnong City Council to revitalise Footscray and deliver long lasting benefits to residents, businesses, workers and VU students and staff. In 2016 she produce a suite of public art projects for BluScray, part of Victoria University’s centenary celebrations which included Corps in Situ in Footscray, a community photographic paste project; Threads of Footscray, a collaborative needlepoint project; Message in a Cup and a partnership with West Projections Festival. Bec has a passionate commitment to the value of collaboration in the arts and has worked at Footscray Community Arts Centre, Centre for Contemporary Art (Glasgow), Chamber Made Opera and Express Media amongst others.
