Alistair Norris is an Interaction Designer at IDEO Singapore, where he prototypes and builds digital experiences for clients across industries. He grounds his love for emerging technologies in people’s needs, finding the intersection between the best new thing and the thing that works best. Alistair is an active participant in many grassroots online communities and digital economies, and he uses these experiences as inspiration for his design work in the real world.
Alistair has global IDEO experience, having spent time at the firm’s London location prior to coming to Singapore. He has worked with clients ranging from large corporations to startups and academic institutions in industries including retail, automotive, logistics, and the public sector.
Alistair’s keen interest in community journalism led him to create NewsGather, a geo-targeted search platform that links journalists with on-the-ground sources. He has designed a weather-sensing, physical-digital device for the visually impaired; along with Annotate, a crowdsourced commentary platform for poetry.
Alistair studied interaction design at Dundee University’s school of design in Scotland, graduating with 1st Class Honours. He spends much of his free time deep in science fiction novels and online competitive games, which have helped hone his sense of what the future might hold.
