Hi, I’m Alex: Curious, people centric and a tech advocate.
My transition to UX design was natural. After years of practising graphic design I started to ask questions. Lots of "why" questions. Improving and reiterating process was key to my work. Bouts of teaching were great practice for facilitation skills. Meeting with people on what they truely want to improve their lives is more than motivating. And new ways for team collaboration satisfied an itch I vaguely knew I had.
After formalising these skills at GA, I now apply this thinking to the software industry in making next generation risk management applications. There’s a lot to master – but the journey is rich. My interests in merging technology, people and design are well fulfilled in this new career path. But it is challenging – software is complicated and there’s the push and pull of conflicting interests of time, resources, marketability, technical considerations, UX and UI. It’s certainly never boring.
