Afzal Imram was trained in Industrial Design at the National University of Singapore, and has had his personal works exhibited in Milan, Paris and Singapore. He founded State Property, a label of contemporary fine jewellery, in 2015 with his wife, Lin Ruiyin.
Jewellery to him is the perfect platform not only to play with the boundaries of both art and design, but also to explore the complexity of the human body and individual personality.
To quote art historian Damian Skinner’s Contemporary Jewelry in Perspective: The body moves in the public domain, and makers hope their work will piggyback on this mobility in order to engage with reality, be relevant, modern, activated.
