Join us for lightning talks by a handful of amazing women in the Chicago tech scene and take a deeper dive into the issues women face in the tech industry and find solutions to how we can rise above the obstacles and thrive in this growing field.
Director of Talent,
Brittani has been working for start up companies for over nine years and is currently the Director of Talent for Vivid Seats. Brittani previously led the Recruiting function at Vivid Seats, but recently shifted focus to help build out the onboarding program along with ongoing employee development, career pathing, and talent management.
Prior to Vivid Seats, Brittani oversaw the entire Talent (HR) function at Spring Rewards, including recruitment, employee engagement, comp and benefits, professional education, and talent management. Other Chicago start ups that Brittani was involved with include Centro, Inc. (a Chicago based company in the digital advertising space) and Echo Global Logistics (a Chicago start up in the transportation industry), where she built the Learning & Development functions from the ground up and has experience leading large scale Sales conferences, new employee orientation, ongoing employee development, Leadership and Management programs.
Brittani was raised in upstate New York. She received her Bachelors in Psychology at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, then made her way to Chicago for her Masters in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Brittani and her husband have grown roots in Chicago and now call it home.
MATH Venture Partners
Samara Hernandez is a Senior Associate of MATH Venture Partners. Prior to joining MATH, Samara spent eight years at Goldman Sachs, where she recently consulted top wealth managers on their business practices. Samara also worked in sales where she was continually ranked top 5 in selling financial products, advising on portfolio construction, and providing market insights. She began her career in the Fixed Income, Currency, and Commodity (FICC) group where she lead multiple technology enhancing projects across global exchanges. Samara has an undergraduate degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Jane Gilligan Hamner VP of Business Development, Harvey Nash; Co- Founder, ARA
As vice president of business development, Jane Gilligan Hamner is a key leader in developing and delivering a variety of IT solutions to clients nationwide. Hamner leverages her extensive sales background and more than 25 years of recruiting experience to fulfill her clients’ unique talent needs. Prior to joining Harvey Nash in 2007, she served as VP of sales at TransTech and as a regional VP at Spherion. Hamner is a founding member of ARA, a national organization focused on attracting, retaining and advancing women in technology. She is also a member of the Chicago Executive Women’s Networking Group and Executives’ Club of Chicago, sponsor and volunteer for i.c. stars and a sponsor for Chicago Innovation Awards. In 2015 and 2016, Hamner was selected to the Techweek 100 and Chicago Tribune’s Blue Sky Innovation Vault. She has an undergraduate degree in business management from Salve Regina University.
Courtney Jane Acuff
VP of Product and Marketing,
Courtney Jane Acuff is the VP of Product and Marketing at ItemMaster. She is charged with delivering ItemMaster’s product solutions into the marketplace as well as all marketing initiatives for ItemMaster. Prior to joining the ItemMaster team, Acuff was the VP of Product User Experience and Marketing at Catalina where she was charged with delivering consumer insights and user experiences that helped bring product concepts to life. She is a media agency trained researcher, media planner/buyer, and experienced marketer with a passion for consumer understanding and emerging technologies. Her professional experience has spanned 17 years and roles in traditional and digital agencies, a promotional and advertising company, and now a startup. She is well known in the industry for her research on mobile consumer behaviors and motivations and speaks often at industry events.
Rachel Bertsche is the Managing Editor at Curiosity, a digital media company that makes it quick and easy to learn something new every day. Rachel is an award-winning journalist and the NY Times bestselling author of MWF Seeking BFF and Jennifer, Gwyneth & Me. In addition to her books, Rachel has written for the New York Times Magazine, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Fitness, Outside and more. She was an editor at O, The Oprah Magazine, Oprah.com and Yahoo Parenting before landing at Curiosity, a job that feeds her passion for learning new facts — and dropping them into party conversation. Rachel graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

From local conferences to hands-on workshops to mentoring, we create an inclusive community for girls and women that increases their sense of belonging, interest, and self-confidence in technology and engineering.
