About this event

Don’t miss our first typographic show n’ tell event, powered by PechaKucha. Our design presenters will speak on the topics of Los Angeles-influenced type design, lettering, environmental design, reading cognition, found type, writing systems and more.

PechaKucha [link:http://www.pechakucha.org/], or ‘chit chat’ in Japanese, was developed by Klein Dytham Architecture, in Tokyo back in 2003. PechaKucha nights now run all over the world. It’s a simple quick-fire format – presenters show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The night is a great way for people to meet and hear about interesting activity happening locally.

Join us and the Los Angeles Is Just My Type Meetup Group (#LAIJMT) [link:http://www.meetup.com/Los-Angeles-Is-Just-My-Type-Typography-Meetup/] for a fast-paced night of type inspiration and interaction between the disciplines between budding designers and established typographers alike.

Speakers: Anthony Acock, Assistant Professor, Cal Poly Pomona Patrick Fredrickson, Design Director at Selbert Perkins Design Ana Gomez, Lettering Artist at Anenocena Kris Helmick, Designer at Hunt Design Barbara Koskoff, Illustrator Carina Marano, Graphic Designer Paul Mendoza, Graphic Designer at Looking Ana Monroe, Graduate Student at Art Center College of Design Michael Stinson, Lead Instructor at TypeEd Hrant Papazian, Type Designer at The MicroFoundry
