The Design Gym is an intensive weekend taught by three friends who have made it their mission to connect a community of skilled solvers with really interesting problems. The weekend includes experience based learning, encouraging environments, and as few slides as possible. This class will not get into the fundamentals of graphic or industrial design and will instead focus on larger problem solving design.
The weekend starts with an overview of Design Gym’s 5-phase methodology and short case studies around how they show up in the real world. Saturday is a sprint through the process beginning with a design brief and ending with presentations of prototyped solutions. Sunday, students will run through the same process but do it with real clients and real client problems. For this workshop the client will be Makeshift Magazine, a design magazine covering innovation throughout the world happening in informal economies.
We’ve had people new to design and people who are veterans in the industry all find value in this workshop.
