About this event

Being an “ally” is more than a label. It’s about being willing to act with and for others in pursuit of creating equity! We can start by recognizing the unearned advantages many of us receive, take responsibility and break the current patterns. We all have an equally important role in this – and by doing so, we help level the playing field by creating more inclusive and fair workplace environments.

In this class:

  • Set the stage with important background information and definitions
  • Explore a framework to better understand what allyship looks like in action
  • Make a commitment to take actionable steps to be an effective ally and changemaker
No badge or wristband is required to attend. This session is free community programming in partnership with SXSW. Join the conversation! Use the hash tag #GAatSXSW to stay connected.

Note: Registration does not guarantee entry. Please arrive early to reserve your seat.

Takeaways

  • Build knowledge, awareness, and skill to establish or strengthen your own allyship practice
  • Specifically, support non-women colleagues to be more effective allies to women
  • Generally make a more inclusive workplace

*This class will engage men to support and provide allyship for women. While we hope non-binary folks will also attend and provide allyship to women, we understand that the non-binary community has their own need for gender allyship and therefore we do not call them out as the main targets for this class.
