About this event

Join us for an evening discussing the Erlang language and its use cases.

Session 1: Introduction to Erlang, the BEAM and the Erlang Ecosystem

The Erlang language and system was designed around a set of requirements for telecom systems. They were distributed, massively concurrent systems which had to scale with demand, be capable of handling massive peak loads and never fail. The Erlang concurrency and error-handling model was developed around these requirements. This talk will briefly describe the development of the language and the design of systems based on the Erlang. It will describe the BEAM, the Erlang VM, and how it supports the properties of the Erlang language and systems built on top of it. It will also look at the further development with the introduction of new languages in the Erlang environment - the Erlang ecosystem."

Session 2: Erlang use cases

Showcasing Miriam's use of Erlang throughout her career. Covering Erlang use cases for Real-time bidding with over 1M requests per second; Chat server with ejabberd with 1M concurrent users; Embedded Erlang for vehicle data collection; Sun power station data collection for monitoring)

This meetup is hosted by Anna Neyzberg, Developer, Co-founder of ElixirBridge (Carbon Five).
