About this event

Have you ever wondered what is going too far? The Banksy, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and Nathan Fielder, and the counterfeit markets of your local Chinatown have all practiced their own form of Parody Art. We are going to go dive deep into the mind of both designers and lawyers and see what is right, wrong, or somewhere in between.

We will use our legal and design expertise to hammer on the limits of what is fair use in copyright law by examining what is a parody as a form of fair use when an artist makes a derivative work and what is not. If you are interested in stealing like an artist, legally, and not becoming a thief under federal copyright law, join us.

We will dive deep into the legal principles and the merging and clashing of design principles.

The event will run as a workshop where we will have an interactive portion where we will create our own parodied versions of famous logos, designs, and experiences. The battle between designers and lawyers will spark the creative narrative of the legal battleground; so join us for this lively event!

Disclaimer: The attorneys speaking at the event are providing general legal and business information that is not specific to any individual participant. You should not rely upon any legal information as legal advice, and engage an attorney before taking action of a legal nature.
