Join queer community and publication 'A Bundle of Sticks' for an evening in celebrating Pride with our all-star panel, sharing their journey to self acceptance, navigating sexual orientation and gender identity.
We’ll explore our panelists' journey, as well as how their stories are helping open up the minds of the world that believe it is a choice to be queer and inspiring those who feel frighten and afraid going through the process of self acceptance, letting them know it’s okay and it does get better.
Let's talk about what it means to be “queer”, how to help create spaces that are safer for us and our allies to be ourselves, and how we can use our voice in helping to guide others.
Senior Career Coach,
Anna Krieger (she/her) is a Senior Career Coach on the NYC Outcomes team at GA. She has been at GA for four years, after building a career as a social worker and recruiter in the education and tech industries. She came to GA in a recruitment role, and then moved over to the coaching team, where she has found great joy in coaching students, working with employers, and teaching workshops, all with the goal of helping our graduates make their first break in the tech industry.
Anna is also passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and has been an active member of GA's global Inclusion Committee, through which she has taken on global and local projects around DEI to continue to bring a DEI lens to GA's work. After living in various places throughout her life, Anna currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Brandon Pfeiffer Student Success / Operations Manager General Assembly
Former professional State Cheerleader and Ad-Guy, an ‘Intro to coding’ class changed the trajectory of Brandon's career plans and his attraction for designing for people’s attention shifted to designing for people's ease after joining GA as a student and basically never leaving after seeing the Spice Girls mural at the London Campus.
Originally from Melbourne, Brandon completed the GA User Experience Design immersive programme way back in July 2018, but since then figured his keen interest for people saw him join the Instructional teams on the UX Programme and part of the GA Student Experience and Operations team. Was once called a Swisse Army Knife and he aims to live up to that title for our Students. (he/him)
Brandon previously worked with Spike Creative, Virgin Active, National Student Pride and The Melbourne Midsumma Festival and Melbourne Queer Film Festival.
A Bundle of Sticks
John is an Australian wanderer who can’t function without coffee. Dabbling in design, he has overcome his quarter life crisis where he is now working as Partnerships Manager for tech education company General Assembly London. There, he helps to organise and curate events by using his experience in both customer service and the creative industry. On the side, John is also the creator for LGBT publication & community A Bundle of Sticks- a chance for like-minded people to share their stories and hardships, letting them be heard to support and inspire others who feel frightened and scared to come out of the closet.
Before making the big move to London, John gained his experience in publication for sexual diversity magazine Archer, LGBT role model for The Reach Foundation, graphic designer for Snap Fitness, Watch & Grow and Oracle Creative Media, as well as lastly developing leadership skills as a supervisor for retail companies New Look and Kmart Australia.
