Overview

The NYC Tech Talent Pipeline is a $10 million industry partnership designed to support the growth of the City’s tech sector and deliver quality jobs for New Yorkers and quality talent for New York’s businesses.

Series A: Data was designed in direct response to industry need and targets New Yorkers with no previous professional tech experience.

With curricula developed in partnership with NYC employers and training delivered by General Assembly, this part-time, 12-week program will prepare participants for jobs as Data Analysts with salaries of $40,000 or more.

Data Collection

Data Analysis

Master the tools that leading NYC businesses use to drive data analysis within their own companies (Excel, SQL, Tableau).

Produce insights for decision-makers through effective analysis of diverse datasets (visualization and dashboards).

Eligibility

Offered free of cost to applicants that complete our competitive application process; Series A – Data is designed to be a flexible path for New Yorkers committed to training for and connecting to full-time employment as entry-level Data Analysts. If you meet the eligibility requirements below, and are determined to gain the 21st century skills that the City’s top tech companies demand – apply now.

 

You must:

    Be a resident of New York City

  •  

    Be at least 18 years old

  •  

    Have no prior employment in data analytics

  •  

    Earn less than $30,000 per year if currently employed

  •  

    Be authorized to work in the United States

Conditions
  • Must be available for all sessions of the 12-week course, including attending in-person sessions three times per week throughout the duration of the course
  • Must be committed to completing all out of class assignments and lessons, estimated to be 6 hours per week

    Why is this course relevant today?

    To be successful in today’s economy, companies need to be able to leverage insights gained from data before making critical business decisions. Knowing how to manipulate and analyze data will position you for success in today’s job marketplace.

    What practical skill sets can I expect to have upon completion of the course?

    Using Excel and Sql, you will learn how to collect, clean and analyze data from multiple sources including the web, local files and relational databases. You’ll practice with real-world data sets and gain the in-demand skills necessary to succeed in your new career as a data analyst.

    How does this course differ from the Data Science course?

    In partnership with General Assembly, the NYC Tech Talent Pipeline's Series A: Data program will prepare students for entry level careers in technology. Upon completion of the course, students will be connected to employment opportunities with starting salaries of $40,000 or more.

    Are there any prerequisites for the course?

    In order to be admitted to this program, you must complete a competitive application process that includes a course application, interview, and admissions task.
