Venessa Paech is an internationally renowned community building expert. She has built and managed B2C, B2B and internal communities for ASX companies, start ups, governments and non-profits. Previous roles include Head of Community at Lonely Planet and Senior Manager for Content and Community at REA Group. Currently Venessa is the Global Communications and PR Manager for Envato, a Melbourne based, born global digital business with a community of over 6 million creatives worldwide.

Venessa is also the Founder of Future Culture, a new consultancy that helps HR professionals, managers, CEOs and founders apply community management methods and perspectives to leadership and organisational cultures. In 2009 Venessa founded the Australian Community Manager Roundtables and in 2011 she co-founded Swarm, Australia’s annual community management conference. In 2015, she commissioned and released the Australian Community Management career survey with Quiip and Dialogue Consulting. With her Swarm co-founder Alison Michalk, Venessa runs the Australian Community Managers group on Facebook (over 2,000 community and social media managers around Australia).

Venessa holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University and an MA in Virtual Ethnography from the University of Brighton (UK). She is a published scholar on online communities, and an in-demand speaker and consultant on our digital lives and identities. Venessa is also a passionate educator, guest lecturing at the University of Sydney, Victoria University and more.

Venessa is a giant, proud nerd who met her husband on an X-Files fan forum in the early 1990s.
