Chika Izuakor

I’m Chika Izuakor and I am passionate about artificial intelligence and data science and it's impact on shipping, securities trading, and cybersecurity . I have spent the past 5 years at Shell and Stolt Nielsen as a maritime and demurrage expert within their trading and tanker groups, but my interest in solving problems with Big Data tool and AI is strong and ever growing.

Using my experience in the fast paced global demurrage group within the trading organization at Royal Dutch Shell, I have added millions of dollars in value by negotiating the group's toughest claims. Seeing profit loss during the negotiation sparked a quest to discover the ways through which technology could proactively prevent costly issues in the shipping industry. In 2017, I served as the Endur V14 implementation focal point for my team, during which I developed processes and reporting tools through Tableau to ensure the success of the program's implementation across the US. It was this pivotal move that ignited my interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Since that time, I have become passionate about seeking opportunities that would allow me to use my Python, Tensorflow, R, machine learning, Tableau, and data knowledge to solve challenges by implementing AI in areas such as shipping, securities and commodities trading, and cyber security. Being a voracious learner, a curious researcher, and most importantly a leader, has awarded me the skills and business acumen to build great working relationships, ask tough questions, and to produce results. I want to know the how and the why so that I can make things work better and more efficiently.

As a result of my passion for technology, I founded TAWT, an e-learning platform for women that hosts online courses from industry experts on subjects like options trading, commodities trading, and financial management. I also act as Vice President of the Global Foundation for Community Health and Social and Economic Development, an organization through which I drive programs that improve the financial, medical, and social status of women around the world. Through this organization, I speak on women’s issues in an effort to create global awareness and action.
