About this event

Every block of stone has a masterpiece inside it. It is the task of the sculptor to discover it. - Michelangelo

Inside each and every one of us, there is a masterpiece waiting to emerge. In the world of IT, technology is that block of stone and us technologists are the sculptors.

However, to discover something as beautiful as Michelangelo’s David, we must first get out of our tech heads and into our hearts. We must bring our vulnerability and our humanness to our work if we are to create something of meaning.

As we go about discovering our masterpiece, we must also share our story. For it is through storytelling that we inspire others to discover their masterpiece too. And in doing so we create a storytelling ripple effect.

And through this storytelling, we create more courageous, conscious and compassionate workplaces where everyone feels connected and where everyone belongs. Through storytelling we bring life back to work and we build prosperous technology companies as a result.

Over the last 18 months The Slow School of Business (a school with a passion to bring ‘slow’ to the ‘fast’ world of tech), has been unearthing the stories of our Future Leaders with their Talk on Purpose course. The course is designed to get people tapped into their passion and purpose through the art of storytelling and public speaking.

General Assembly is excited to be partnering with Slow School to bring you the hour-of-power breakfast. You’ll get to hear four fabulous 5-minute talks from ToP graduates and the founder of the school, Carolyn Tate.

You’ll learn more about each speakers journey and then start to dig a little deeper on your own story with some creative activities designed to get you sharing your story with others.
