*Are you visual thinker looking to understand more about the world of digital design? Have you been wanting to learn some of the fundamental programs and techniques that designers currently use to bring their ideas to life? *
The digital world is open for business, and this bootcamp will cover the essential aspects of visual design, leaving you with a deeper understanding of how effective designs are actually created, from research to final mockup. Good "design" is larger than any single platform, app or website. In this class, you'll come away with knowledge on how to creative beautiful, stand-out work that can live anywhere across the content spectrum, and drive results.
Working through a series of guided demos, you'll:
Learn the fundamentals of go-to tools for print and digital designers.
Touch on essential design principles including composition, color theory, and typography.
Explore the basic techniques and theory behind effective UX/UI design.
Learn the basic stages of the digital design process (research, moodboards, ideation and prototyping).
Learn to create powerful designs that can be applied to any form of content: magazines, websites, marketing materials, brochures and social media General Assembly’s classes, workshops & events are for recreational purposes and are not regulated by the bureau of proprietary school supervision.
If this class is recorded, students will be sent the recording link within 7 days after class completion by email. Students are encouraged to download and save any shared materials (worksheets, deck if applicable) during class for later reference as they are not be shared by email.
Students need to sign up for a free trial of Adobe Suite prior to class.
You will need access to a laptop or computer with a working webcam and microphone as well as a strong internet connection.
This class will occur completely online using Zoom.
Class setup information will be emailed to all students signed up around 24 hours before (and again an hour before) your class launches.

Adam Bookbinder is an award-winning creative director and brand strategist with over 15 years of experience in the media industry. His focus has been on luxury-lifestyle publications, where he has worked for several of the world's leading brands, developing dynamic print and digital products that have reached tens of millions of viewers.
Most recently he was the creative director of Travel+Leisure magazine, the largest-circulation travel publication in the United States, with a total print audience of over 6M. Prior to this he was the design director of Saveur, a food and travel magazine which celebrates the stories from around the world that weave together culture, tradition, and people through the language of food. He was also was the creative director of Departures, a luxury-lifestyle magazine produced by American Express Publishing. He held this position for over 8 years, and helped earn the magazine its first-ever national magazine award for "Best Single Topic Issue". He has also earned numerous Henry Luce awards for creative direction and design including multiple "Best Design Magazine of the Year" and "Best Cover of the Year" awards. His work has consistently been recognized for its excellence by The Society of Publication Designers, where he has been an active member for over 15 years. He has held positions and consulted on the designs of several other titles including Vanity Fair, Details, Spin, Interview, Rolling Stone, Harper’s Bazaar, and Dr. Oz Magazine.
