Myth: Video production is difficult, expensive, and painful.
Fact: Video production is simple, affordable, and enjoyable!
86% of businesses use video as a marketing tool as it generates higher engagement rate compared to texts and images. It is thus more essential than before to be equipped with basic video production skills to create succinct and impactful messages that would help distinguish your brand amidst a highly competitive social media landscape.
In this workshop, you will explore how to come up with creative video concepts. You’ll then learn the essentials behind video production i.e. pre-production, production, and post-production. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the logistics required for a video shoot. You’ll also be taught how to write a video script, and pick up basic skills in cinematography and video editing. Lastly, you’ll gain an insight into how video production houses and creative agencies work, and be able to collaboratively work with them more effectively.
This syllabus is specially catered for beginners, and no prior videography experience is required. Students who are keen to produce videos either as a hobby, or for marketing purposes, will find this highly useful. It will also greatly help professionals who are outsourcing their video production to external vendors.
Upon completion of the class, you will be equipped with the necessary skills to:
Conceptualise, plan, and execute simple video shoots
Write a structured video script
Capture simple yet impactful video footage, using entry-level equipment such as the mobile phone
Edit a simple video, using a web-based video editing tool
Better manage external vendors
This workshop will be completely live and online. In preparation, please download Zoom.
You will also be given a short list of online videos to watch before the workshop. You will need to download a folder containing materials which will be used for the video editing hands-on exercise. Please attend the workshop on a fully charged laptop or desktop. Having a mouse might make it easier for you to follow the instructor.
NOTE: this class will not be recorded, however, slides will be sent within 7 days following the session.
