Stop wasting another minute on lengthy online video training and get hands-on, 1:1 veteran instructor led training with this 1-day prep.

This bootcamp prep will cover User Experience Design fundamentals and an introduction to the tools required. Designed to help aspiring designers get started by building a solid foundation for continued learning.

You will be introduced to the profession of product design industry and get exposure to the design thinking methodology and workflow of a UX designer. We will then practice designing and building a mobile app prototype, leveraging the Sketch App and InVision prototyping tools.


Intro the the Industry:

  • What is UX Design?
  • What are the responsibilities of a UX designer?
  • What are the common roles in Design?
  • Core skillsets of a UX designer

UX Design Fundamentals:

  • Learn the basics of the design thinking methodology
  • Discover the tools and techniques in a UX designers toolkit
  • Practice ideating concepts and sketching interfaces

Sketch Workshop:
  • Learn the basics of the Sketch App design tool
  • Co-create an iPhone app as a class
  • Build a clickable prototype with InVision

About the Instructor

Tyler Hartrich Photo

Tyler Hartrich is a product designer with a mission to create delightful digital experiences that deeply impact people’s lives. With an academic background in urban design, ecological systems design, and an MBA in Sustainable Enterprise, he approaches design problems with a human-centered methodology, focusing on building empathy throughout the design process.

He has worked with organizations spanning solar technology, electric bicycles, organization design, farm-to-fork food systems and climate impact analysis for local governments. Tyler is a current UXDI Immersive instructor at General Assembly.

Outside of GA, you can find him making hand-made ravioli, cycling up the 9W, or escaping for the weekend up north.

In recognition of his exemplary service in the classroom, Tyler has been selected as a member of General Assembly's Distinguished Faculty program. Tyler serves as a member of GA's Product Advisory Board for our design courses.
