About this workshop

• Walk through the history of type and progression throughout different media
• Show examples of type in print and web and the differences between both
• Show how type works with color/texture/images
• Talk about different types of fonts (serif, sans-serif, display, handwritten) and the benefits/best uses for all
• Walk through do’s/dont’s - no stretching, rotating, etc.
• Demonstrate with provided fonts (4-5 or so) and headline/body copy of how to lock up type. Have class play around with this.
• Talk about how legs/bars can be used to nest type
• Wrap up by having the class do a simple type treatment of their chosen words - could be their name, a famous quote, etc.
