About this event

Women and minority business owners are vastly underrepresented when it comes to VC funding. That problem has roots in the lack of diversity in venture capital leadership and portfolios. Women make up less than 11 percent of senior executives at VC firms and non-white employees comprise 22 percent of the venture capital workforce. The lack of women and minority representation in leadership positions at top companies and firms is a growing problem. Because venture capital is seeding the high growth companies of tomorrow, having a lack of diversity across the funding landscape perpetuates the same results in the market.

In order to create change (not to mention to unlock economic opportunities), underrepresented founders and VCs alike have to work to break the cycle. Join General Assembly and our female leaders to discuss:

  • The benefits of having a diverse and inclusive set of decision makers
  • How to recognize and acknowledge unconscious bias
  •
  • How to build a strong network
  • Guidance from minority and women entrepreneurs on pitching to VCs and raising capital
