Data Scientist, abillion

Emily Dothe is a Data Scientist at abillion, helping build a digital ecosystem that helps make sustainability and social impact a lifestyle for everyone. The Data team at abillion uses advanced analytics and machine learning to create seamless user experiences that match their sustainability journey. They also leverage data from the app to publish reports providing data-driven insights about socially responsible consumption to the sustainability-focused business community.

Emily has over five years of experience spanning the Data Science and Software Engineering fields. Prior to joining abillion, she completed a Master’s in Business Analytics at Imperial College London, where she was a Data Analytics Scholar with DLA Piper. During her time at Imperial she also served as the Director of Career Development and Education for the Social Impact and Responsible Business Club, working to bring awareness to the possibilities of a career combining data and social impact. Before pursuing her Master’s, Emily worked as a Software Engineer at Goldman Sachs building investment research and portfolio management applications with the GSAM Credit Alternatives group. She graduated from Cornell University in 2016 with a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a minor in music.

Data Science Lead Instructor, General Assembly | People Data Scientist, EngageRocket

Shilpa is the Lead Instructor for General Assembly Singapore’s Data Science Immersive Flex 3 cohort. She is the first woman lead instructor to train Data Science in a part-time setting for GA, Singapore, and is proud to be part of the enablement journey for close to 30 mid-career professionals enrolled in the Tech Immersion and Placement Programme (TIPP) to convert them into industry-ready Information and Communications Technology (ICT) professionals. Shilpa is also extremely passionate about using Data Science and Analytics to drive data-enabled decisions in the HR space and thus also juggles the role of a People Analyst at EngageRocket in parallel to her GA stint.

With a Master of Science degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the National University of Singapore, Shilpa is an ex-Engineer-turned-to-HR, with more than 10 years of experience in the Data Analytics/Science space. Before her current stints, she previously worked as a Data Scientist and People Analyst in the public sector (Government Technology Agency of Singapore) and Fortune 500 Semiconductor MNC (Micron Technology).

Shilpa loves to find new ways to integrate Technology with work to build more efficient processes and solutions, while expanding her Tools knowledge in the journey. She has worked with Python, Power BI, Robotic Process Automation, amongst other tools.

With the continuing aim to influence fellow People data enthusiasts trying to break into a more data-centric career, Shilpa in her spare time, writes articles sharing from her work experience, to Medium Publication. Having battled through and still surviving Scoliosis, she is also deeply passionate about the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion agenda at workplaces, being an active part of company enablement efforts and events.

Deng Yinghan Photo

Data Scientist, Facebook

Yinghan is a Ph.D. holder graduated from the department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of National University of Singapore. Her Ph.D. study focused on research related to mathematical modelling and optimization.

After graduation, she has been working in tech companies that specialized in digital advertising. She used to be part of the client serving team that supported top agencies in the region to make more data-driven decisions in running digital campaigns. Three years ago, she moved to Facebook and has been working as a product data scientist. Her current work is to leverage data to drive actionable insights towards better integrity product. She surfaces strategic product strategies and provides day-to-day decision-support to help build a safer environment for both business and users on the platform.

Yuan Tieming Photo

Data Scientist, Toyota Tsusho Asia Pacific

Tieming is a data scientist at Toyota Tsusho Asia Pacific. His main work revolves around supply chain optimisation, business intelligence and user behaviour analysis.

His data analytics work has transformed Toyota Tsusho's decision-making process, enabling stakeholders to extract information from new dimensions.

His interest in data science started in his university days. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Management from Newcastle University Business School and a Master of Science in Business Analytics from the University of Edinburgh.

Tieming is also an agile coach in Toyota Tsusho, where he coaches teams to adopt an agile mindset and enhances team synergy.

Prior to joining Toyota Tsusho Asia Pacific, Tieming was a senior officer at Singapore Police Force. He has solved death cases, violent crimes and put serial thieves in prison. He was also awarded the Sword of Honour during his Officer Cadet Course.

He is more than happy to share his journey from pistol to python.
