About This Class

The average time recruiters spend reviewing your resume is 6 seconds. Yes, 6 seconds. And LinkedIn? 94% (maybe more) of recruiters vet candidates using LinkedIn. So, what does this mean for you?
You need your Resume and your LinkedIn Profile to be strategically crafted when you’re job hunting or even just networking. Maybe you’re trying to make a transition, explore new opportunities, or just want materials that show who you are and what you’re best at. One thing is for sure. You need a compelling and clear story. We know how confusing this process can be. Having written hundreds of resumes and LinkedIn profiles for professionals in all industries and levels, Joy has developed an efficient and effective method that simplifies and optimizes your workflow while capturing the most significant details for recruiters. This workshop is designed to teach you the best practices for writing an effective resume and an optimized LinkedIn profile for networking or job hunting. Joy will share her uniquely designed (and tested!) step-by-step process to analyze job descriptions, strategically prepare your top selling points, and update your Resume and LinkedIn so it saves you time and lands you interviews.

The wellbeing of our employees, students, clients, instructors, and guests is our number one priority here at General Assembly. We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation very carefully and are adjusting delivery of our programs.

CEO & Co-Founder,
Ama La Vida

I'm the CEO and co-founder of Ama La Vida, an innovative coaching company which helps people to achieve both deep fulfillment and phenomenal success in their careers. I'm a Project Entrepreneur 2018 alum and a graduate of 1871's WiSTEM Cohort 7 accelerator for female tech founders.

I firmly believe that life is too short to just let things happen to you. One of my greatest goals is to inspire our clients truly take the reins and become intentional about what they want from their lives and careers.

With a background in management consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers, I bring a new level of rigor, process and results-orientation to the coaching industry. At Ama La Vida, working with a coach isn’t just about feeling great in your sessions – it’s about making lasting changes in your life after your session is over.

I’ve been featured in publications like Fortune, Bustle, Glassdoor and CNBC, as a thought-leader in things like crafting rewarding careers and creating a company culture which fosters innovation and honors individuality. As determined as I am to help our clients love their lives, I’m equally determined to help ALV staff and coaches do the same. Every single person who joins our team is helping us build a truly one-of-a-kind coaching company, and I work tirelessly to ensure that company is a wonderful place to work.

I'm passionate about supporting women in the workplace and helping to develop emerging leaders into great ones. I welcome opportunities to speak at companies and conferences on these topics.

Co-Founder & Coach,
Ama La Vida

Foram Sheth is a mother, a wife and a passionate individual who is driven to empower those around her to thrive.

Foram's personal journey began when she moved to the United States at the age of 9 from India. Her parents gave up a comfortable life to a struggling one to provide her and her brother with unlimited opportunities. She watched her parents sacrifice everything. This upbringing instilled the values of hard work, resiliency and tenacity. Foram leaned into these values and is what makes her the driven person she is today.

Foram started her career in consulting. Consulting taught her the importance of establishing rapport, cultivating relationships and producing results through a data-driven process. While working, Foram pursued her Master’s degree in Learning and Organizational Change at Northwestern University. During this time, she was fortunate enough to work with a leadership coach and that ignited her desire to learn the art and skill of coaching.

As Foram became more informed about the coaching world, Foram realized high quality leadership coaching is typically reserved for the top leadership team. But what about new and mid-level managers who need personalized support to cultivate high performing teams? How do we scale coaching and break down the barriers that traditionally make coaching only reserved for the senior leadership team? These are the questions Foram and her team asked when they launched Ama La Vida. Foram is proud that they have been able to disrupt the coaching industry by leveraging technology to make coaching more accessible, scalable, tangible and results-driven.
