About this event

What is this Hackathon about?

This hackathon is designed to challenge our data scientists, web developers, and user experience designers to re-envision the job application website for junior/entry level employees entering the tech sector.

The technology industry is currently trying to figure out a way to attack its cultural and demographic homogeneity issues. One simple initiative is to begin to recruit talent from people outside of its preferred networks.

How can we design the system to extend their recruiting efforts to people who don’t have four-year degrees, but who still have technical skills in the field (“new-collar jobs”)? What about mid-career transitioners; individuals who are highly adept in one industry, but are now breaking into the tech field? Or in general, how do we build for and encourage a wider range of diversity (i.e. age, gender, ethnicity, sexual identity) in our industry?

What are the Prizes? Credits for workshops Best overall - $50 Best UX - $25 Best Presentation -$25
