About this event

Interactive TED-Style Workshop: The highest performing teams have one thing in common: psychological safety. Making others feel safe starts with making yourself feel safe -- and that means owning your story. How can you be yourself to lead others? How can you own your story to drive equality, inclusion, and transformation in community?

Melissa Andrada will share her own personal practice of radically authentic leadership as a queer Filipino-American born in Nigeria who came to the States as an undocumented immigrant.

Once upon a time, Melissa was a painfully shy intern who rarely said a word during meetings. She never would’ve imagined that she would go on to become a Chief Operations Officer winning over the hearts of VCs and helping raise $1.6 million for a startup in London to a Creative Leadership Coach & Strategist sharing her truth on stages across the globe and nurturing a socially conscious business focused on designing a world where we all feel powerful and equal.

A believer in out-and-proud vulnerability, Melissa will share how owning your story can transform fear into your biggest superpower, equipping you with profound courage to fully show up as yourself, particularly when you find yourself in the minority. Melissa would love to empower you on your journey — to bring out the most powerful essence of self to own a board room, self-advocate and get the support you need and speak your truth on a public stage.

This is one of her signature talks she’s adapted for diverse and underrepresented communities at The New York Times in New York, Out in Tech at Microsoft in London, Lesbians Who Tech at ThoughtWorks in Paris and UK Government Digital Service in London.

What people have said about Melissa’s talks “Thank you for the very inspirational talk last night. We need women like you to stand up and have the balls to inspire us all!” -Corinna Stuck, Senior Culture Manager, Busuu
