About this workshop

In the second part of this workshop series, we will learn to use matplotlib and Seaborn to create visually striking plots of our data. Our workshop will be punctuated by several code drills, which will include making visualizations of sample data.

Specifically, we will learn how to use Seaborn to make scatterplots, box plots, and heatmaps using data from a Pandas dataframe.

Takeaways

  • Learn how to make scatter plots, box plots, bar plots, and heatmaps using data from a Pandas dataframe.
  • Learn how to make custom-tailored plots for specific applications.

Prereqs & Preparation

  • Strongly recommend that students take the first part of this series: Python for Data Science I
  • Workshop participants are expected to have working knowledge of a spreadsheet program such as MS Excel.
  • Some exposure to Python programming is strongly recommended.
  • Please make sure that you have Anaconda installed in your laptop (https://www.continuum.io/downloads) with Python 3.x (e.g. Python 3.5).
