About this class

Python is a versatile and widely-used programming language with many applications. This workshop explores how Python can serve as a powerful tool for data analysis. This workshop is designed as a stand-alone introduction to the data analysis aspects of Python.

Takeaways

By the end of this class students will be able to:

  • Articulate the benefits of programming for data analysis
  • Articulate Python’s capabilities within the Data Science Workflow
  • Write and run python scripts
  • Conduct important data analysis tasks such as reading, summarizing, filtering, and sorting data

Prereqs & Preparation

  • A downloaded copy of the Anaconda distribution for Python 2.7
  • General technical savvy, and comfort with computers
  • Some prior experience with use of computers for analysis (e.g., Excel)
  • Prior experience programming in Python or scripting is a plus, but not required.
