Understanding how people interact with a product and factors that influence their decision-making process is integral to User Experience Design. This makes psychology a relevant and very helpful background to have for UX Designers.
In this class we'll discuss why considering 'how we think' is such an important part of the design process. The class will cover a basic introduction to psychology as a science and we'll deep dive into some areas that are particularly relevant to the design process. There will be plenty of exercises to illustrate key concepts, with a focus on cognitive biases and mental models.
This workshop is highly interactive with group activities and discussions throughout. To participate you will need to:
Vinny is a Product Design Team Lead at Zendesk, building software that improves customer relationships. His previous experience includes working as a producer and designer at various agencies across Melbourne, as well as spending some time at Telstra and in the fintech startup world.
Vinny is passionate about using psychology to help solve problems and is scared of the ‘ego-centric’ designer. He has delivered workshops to various businesses, helping them to tackle problems in new ways, looking at perception, reframing and giving psychology a seat at the table.
He is active in the Melbourne meet-up scene, has presented at UX Australia and is a co-host of the Melbourne UX Book Club. Vinny also contributes to various online design blogs like Webdesigner Depot and Sitepoint.
