About This Workshop

Whether you’re a designer, a developer, or an entrepreneur who’s looking to get your own company off the ground, knowing how to effectively lead a team and complete a project is an essential element of success.

This Bootcamp reviews the fundamentals of project management. It’s a good place to start whether you’ve found yourself taking on a pm role in your organization or are looking to transition to a career in the field.

In this workshop, you’ll get an introduction to project management processes and best practices for interacting with the client, stakeholders and your team. Working with real world examples, you’ll gain the tools and resources that you’ll need to increase focus and improve your team’s productivity.

Takeaways

  • Learn about the four phases of a project
  • An overview of the two popular pm methodologies: traditional project management and Agile
  • How to create a project schedule, budget, and resource plan
  • How to assess risk and anticipate future problems in the project lifecycle
  • Proven techniques for meeting management
  • How to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders and the project team

Preparation

Prior to the workshop, participants will receive a project worksheet. They will need to complete Section 1 of the worksheet, Describe Your Upcoming Project, before the start of class. If you also have any specific challenges in mind with regards to current or past projects, please bring them with you!

Participants will need to bring a laptop or writing materials to take notes with.

With a diverse background in Operations, my career has been spent in high growth organizations doing things differently. With 10+ years managing projects, I love fostering collaboration between cross-functional teams.

As Operations Manager at Sago Mini, I solve complex problems with diverse stakeholders both within our organization and our parent organization, Spin Master. Our customer-centric team makes data-driven decisions and strategic choices to encourage customer retention and business growth.

I received my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in November 2019, and am well-versed in project management methodologies.
