Start the decade with a healthy mindset of what you see when you snap a selfie or look in the mirror before running out the door.

Our world is flooded with unrealistic beauty standards that we scroll through social media thinking we need to attain to be happy.

Join photographer, designer, and artist Deveney Williams for a conversation about beauty, self-love and photo manipulation followed by a fun portrait session at General Assembly.

Deveney is a Washington, D.C. based portraIt and lifestyle photographer with a passion to show others their beauty through still imagery. She has worked with local groups such as Femme Fatal, behold.her and The Outrage to facilitate workshops with women on how to love themselves as they are.

All proceeds from this event will go to the Samya Rose Stumo Memorial Initiative for Universal Quality Healthcare.

My beloved friend, Samya Stumo, was fatally killed on the morning of March 10th in Ethiopia when the Boeing 737 Max crashed after 7-minutes in the air. Samya had just started a new role at ThinkWell, and I was going to take her portrait when she returned. This is a personal workshop of lessons I hoped to share with Samya and images I yearned to capture, but never will.

The donations will go to send two under-privileged women through their master's in public health to pursue the work Samya was going to do. Additional donations are welcomed.
