About this event

Millennials make up more than a third of the US population—the largest demographic group in the group—and are expected to earn 50% of the nation’s income. However, the homeownership rate among this group is 10% lower than the that of same age group prior to the onset of the Great Recession.

While there are certainly powerful structural factors inhibiting millennial homeownership—including high rates of educational debt, financial and psychological impacts of the Great Recession, and supply constraints on starter housing inventory that price first-time homebuyers out of the market—the mortgage lending process itself does not meet millennial expectations.

This discussion will explore how data providers, mortgage lenders, and government-sponsored entities like Fannie Mae are working together to deliver a more inclusive, personalized, and frictionless mortgage lending experience that can awaken the sleeping giants of the housing market.
