About this workshop

Lean Usability Testing is the art of testing the designs or services you have created with your target audience and then turning your insights from observation into actions. Everything we use today from products to services has a user or customer experience which should always be tested and improved.

The class will cover all the elements of lean usability testing: planning, task creation, methodology, facilitation, test environment, recruitment and results analysis.

Takeaways

  • How to plan for a usability test and create scenarios to test
  • How to facilitate a usability test
  • How to analyse a usability test using lean methods
  • How to analyse research findings and create opportunities for product/website improvement

This class is ideal for anyone interested in advancing their UX knowledge including but not limited to:

  • Anyone working in a startup
  • Developers who want to know how to test their products or prototypes
  • Product Managers
  • Business Analysts
  • University students starting off in their UX career

Prereqs & Preparation

Students will be asked to plan a test for their (or their company’s) app or website. For students who do not have an app or website in mind to run a test, a hypothetical test can be created for a responsive site of the presenter’s choosing.

Students will conduct a lean usability test in class, then analyse the findings and present the results back to the class.
