Ladies Lounge, a monthly event series hosted by GA, is spending August with industry experts to help us navigate the world of tech and take charge of our careers.

A once male-dominated industry, technology today is seeing a shift with many women at the forefront, serving as innovators, inventors, and creators of some of today’s most promising technologies.

About the Panelists

Faith Umoh Photo

Data Scientist,

Faith is passionate about leveraging data science and design thinking to ethically extract evidence-based knowledge from data to immediately elevate business decisions. Her sense of purpose stems from 9 years of experienced rooted in making valuable human-driven insight that directly improves the well-being of society, both in the U.S. and abroad. Faith’s strengths in data science are data visualization, data migration, and statistics; coupled with design thinking experience in leading design workshops, developing personas, designing dashboard wireframes, and developing journey maps. She has an aptitude for refining complex data results and concepts in a palatable way for a wide-ranging audience.

As an expert in optimizing digital experiences and online content through data and analytics, Jessica works with some of the world's most influential nonprofits and foundations to help them understand and connect with their audiences in order to reach their online goals. Her client accounts include USAID, Mercy Corps and the Hilton Foundation. Prior to joining Forum One, Jessica worked at Vox Media where she analyzed multimedia traffic and key performance indicators across eight publishing brands. Jessica earned her B.A. in English and Political Science at Dickinson College and holds a certificate in Data Science from General Assembly.

CommonLit

Agnes is the Director of Strategic Partnerships for CommonLit, an educational technology nonprofit serving over 11 million teachers and students. She works with CommonLit's corporate and nonprofit partners to maximize the impact of the organization's work. Prior to joining CommonLit, Agnes worked with Clarivate Analytics, developing IP products and services based on global patent data, and training patent examiners for the US Patent and Trademark Office. Agnes received her BA from the George Washington University, her MA from King's College University of London, and her JD from Tulane University. On the weekends, she loves trekking through DC's green spaces with her husband and dog.

Chief Strategy Officer,

Meg Vorland is the Chief Strategy Officer for Dcode. She is a passionate advocate for startups and small businesses, and has helped to develop and expand several companies, focusing on preparing businesses for funding, entering new markets, forecasting, and scaling general operations and project management. Meg served in the Obama Administration as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), where she advised and provided project management support on high-priority internal operations, provided policy recommendations to the Administrator of the SBA, and helped to implement policy decisions affecting small businesses.
