About this event

We're hosting a Data Portfolio Mentor Night on Thursday, February 27th at General Assembly. Join us from 6-8 pm to help Denver's newest Data Storytellers communicate their professional journey and get hired!

For students, this evening will help you understand how to differentiate yourself, demonstrate your skills, and succeed in the hiring process. For professionals already in data-related roles, this is a great opportunity to help aspiring data professionals, further develop your own portfolio, or find your next hire. For those who are willing to support the students in attendance, we will ask you to introduce yourself and help answer student questions.

The evening will begin with short remarks and advice from several data practitioners, including:

  • David Napoli Consultant and Educator at General Assembly, Regis University, and University of Colorado
  • Matthew Krusemark, Founder of KSpatial and Educator at University of Colorado Denver
  • Ashley Summers, Information Systems Manager at Denver Regional Council of Governments
  • Brian Timoney, Principal at The Timoney Group
  • Laura Valle-Gutierrez, Director of Research at A+ Colorado
    • After short presentations by each speaker, we will break up into small group discussions to help each student reach his or her career goals. All professionals in attendance are encouraged to meet with at least one student, and students are encouraged to meet with several professionals.
