The first person to direct a narrative fiction film (and possibly invented the music video in 1905) was erased from history. Why? Because she was a woman. And until very recently, we had never heard of Katherine Johnson and Margaret Hamilton, who were critical in getting us to the Moon and back as NASA scientists and mathematicians in the 1960’s.
Their achievements and stories were largely erased or ignored from the history books for decades, rendering them ‘invisible women’. To mark International Women’s Day on March 8th, ustwo will be shedding light on the gender gap that has effectively silenced women’s accomplishments, needs and experiences throughout history, but also celebrating the inspirational men and women who are passionate about smashing bias and helping us close the gender gap.
