Learn how data drives better business.

Step into the world of data analytics with General Assembly. During our introductory workshop, you’ll join the data conversation and see how analytics drives decision making across industries. Learn to understand, analyze, and interpret data as you:

  • Walk through the fundamentals of data analysis.
  • Learn introductory analytic functionality to distill actionable insights from data sets.
  • See how data analysts translate their findings into compelling business narratives.
  • Perform an exploratory analysis using real-world data.

Chart your own career path. Pick up where this workshop leaves off. Learn the fundamentals of data tools like Excel, SQL, and Tableau in 10 weeks in our part-time, on-campus Data Analytics workshop or online in our mentor-driven Data Analysis Circuit.

Preparation

A laptop is required for this workshop. Please also have access to Google Sheets or have Excel downloaded on your laptop. A free trial version of Excel is available at https://products.office.com/en-us/try.

About the Instructor

Campaign Analyst,
BlueLabs

Josh is a GA alum and a data analyst with expertise in survey research and civic engagement. He spent five years working in northern and southwest Virginia for candidates at all levels of government from Blacksburg Town Council to President. In 2013 he ran a campaign that registered over 3,000 Virginia Tech students to vote for state and local candidates and tested innovative messaging and communications tactics to persuade them to show up and make their voices heard on election day.

Today Josh is a campaign analyst BlueLabs in Washington D.C., a Masters Student at Northwestern University pursuing a M.S. in Predictive Analytics, and the advocacy chair for the National Capital Area chapter of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
