About this class

Product designers are not experts. The people using the products that we aspire to design are the real source of knowledge. They demand cohesive and engaging experiences that relate to them and they're fast to jump ship if you can't deliver. Organizations need to learn how to empathize with their users and deliver more relevant products and services if they hope to survive this new consumer led economy. Learn about recruiting and interviewing users, using journey-maps and debriefs to identify opportunities and how to implement innovation in a fast paced environment.

Students will learn the basics of ethnographic research, including writing interview protocol, asking the right questions and capturing debrief information. We will then cover how to use this research to create journey-maps, user profiles and identify feasible and viable opportunities. Students will then learn how concepts are created, tested, refined and launched.
