About This Workshop

The API revolution is upon us. Salesforce made more than $1.5 billion from selling their API services. FourSquare's location and venue API receives more than 75 million requests per day.

APIs (Application Programming Interface) allows your application to access the services and leverage the existing technologies of companies. APIs are how you connect your application to Facebook, Google, Pinterest, Instagram, Tesla, and thousands of other companies. By truly understanding how APIs work, you open the door to a whole new world of possibilities: the world becomes your playground. In this 2 hour workshop, we’ll discuss in depth how APIs work, and learn how to use it yourself!

Takeaways

  • Have a clear understanding on how APIs work, and why they are increasingly prevalent
  • Know how the HTTP protocol works
  • Understand the RESTful architecture when designing APIs
  • Format data using JSON or XML
  • Know how to approach integrating your application with existing APIs (using Python and OAuth2 as an example)
  • Preparation

Some level of programming experience is preferred, but not required.

Please register at least 72 hours before the workshop.
