About this workshop

Agile has become a major buzzword but its definition is simple. Agile is an iterative approach to planning and guiding processes. However, it’s hard to practice if you’ve never done it before. This 1 day workshop applies Agile to developing workshops and meetings and provides students with practice in facilitating an Agile workshop or meeting.

Takeaways

  • Practice clarifying problem, goal, and decision-tree descriptions for workshops & meetings.
  • Identify complications in terms of time, meeting space, resources, culture, and other constraints to implementation of solution(s) developed.
  • Codify workshop & meeting rules and identify required facilitation roles.
  • Learn to select appropriately from a variety of options for how participants engage & provide feedback on topics.
  • Determine how to collect feedback for processing and decision-making and layer this into workshop & meeting activities.
  • Obtain feedback and conduct a pre-mortem of your workshop or meeting.
  • Learn how to facilitate and follow-up to generate outcomes.

Prereqs & Preparation

  • This workshop is beginner friendly, so you don’t need to have any prior facilitation experience.
  • You will need to bring a laptop so that you can use the software you prefer to construct your workshop or meeting.
  • There will be a few short introductory readings so all students are familiar with the terminology and intent behind why Agile workshops and meetings are conducted in this manner.
