About this event series

The TV industry is changing at a rapid pace, with streaming video, multiple screens and over-the-top video offerings becoming the new normal, fast. That’s why companies like Turner, Crackle, Corus Entertainment and Rogers are turning to You.i TV to get the velocity, flexibility and reach they need in today’s market.

Laurie Baird, Managing Director at You.I TV will walk us through how they are helping create the future of television.

Laurie has spent her career focusing on expanding business opportunities through emerging media technology serving Turner, ESPN, AT&T, Public Media International among others. She is a Fellow at the Futures of Entertainment, a member of the Corporate Visiting Committee for the Humanities at MIT and an Advisory Board Member at the Georgia Tech GVU Center. She earned a BS in physics and a BA in film from St. Lawrence University and an SM (MBA) from the MIT Sloan School. She lives in Atlanta with her husband Jim.

Over 42 million connected TV devices were sold in 2015. How designers create pleasant experiences throughout these devices will be increasingly important. Designing for connected devices create unique sets of challenges, and with the growing popularity of the Apple TV, Amazon Fire or Roku, designers need to be aware of subtleties of all the devices and best practices for a viewable application from across the room.

Mark Wolfe will walk us through the user experience and design best practices for connected devices, as well as interface-less devices such as Amazon Echo and Google Home and how they are entering the future of the television industry.

Mark is a UX Consultant for Slalom Consulting. He’s passionate about creating beautiful and innovative experiences across devices of all sizes and connections. His work in this space has benefited many of the most recognized brands from Fortune 100 companies to the pluckiest of startups. When he’s not working with clients, Mark can be seen ogling design history, playing mediocre third base and drinking loads of coffee.
