About this class series

The world is connected by software— mobile phones, web and cloud. How do they all fit together? In this studio, we explore the connections between all the aspects of software and tie them together to build an iPhone app using Javascript.

Understand how to code, and understand the world—or at least how devices and technology connect. In this 100 hour series, we explore the different technologies that connect our daily lives and build real-life projects using Javascript, Python, and iOS throughout 100 hours of instruction.

The first 20 hours focuses on using React.native, a Javascript framework that can easily be published to iOS. Students will understand the basics of computer science while building multiple web and mobile apps. We not only focus on Computer Science, but on the functional aspects required to create projects with technology.

Pre-Requisites: We recommend that attendees have experience with visual coding such as Scratch or the Coder-Studio pre-requisite 20 hour course in addition to typing skills. No other experience in coding is necessary.

Takeaways

  • Understanding computer science principles and syntax of Javascript
  • Understand how to identify ‘problems’ and build solutions using technology, mobile development, and design thinking
