About This Workshop

Developing a deep understanding of users’ behavior, thoughts, needs, and desires helps design teams solve well-defined problems. Without identifying these core problems and opportunities, launching a product or service is simply a stab in the dark. User research is the means by which we foster this understanding. It focuses on developing direct connections to end users in order to make sense of their everyday lives, learn about their frustrations, and determine potential solutions to improve their experience with just about anything.

General Assembly’s classes, workshops and events are recreational and for avocational purposes only. No certificate is awarded.


  • Get an introduction to user research methods, including ethnographic methods and customer interviews
  • Learn about Interviewing exercises to gather observations
  • Discover sense-making activities to understand research findings from multiple angles
  • Exercise to isolate key pain points and frame design opportunities


  • This class is taken completely online
  • We will provide a link to the platform on the day of the class
  • This class requires a computer and strong internet connection

After completing the User Experience Design Immersive course in 2015, Elize became a UX director at a digital marketing agency within 1 year and a co-founder of a UX design agency within 2 years. Now, she creates content that helps emerging designers learn how to expedite their careers. Her past clients include Adobe, USA Today Network, Papyrus, and Robert Half.

Her goal is to make UX accessible to everyone, because it’s the job of every person in an organization to care about the user’s experience. Elize loves helping others gain confidence and take action in their lives.
