About This Workshop

Explore the programming languages that power the web and write your first line of code.

During our online introductory workshop, explore the building blocks of the web — HTML and CSS — and learn how you can apply these programming languages to develop your own simple sites.

  • Complete hands-on coursework in an online classroom designed to keep you engaged and focused.

Pick up where this workshop leaves off. Incorporate JavaScript and code dynamic sites in our part-time, on-campus Front-End Web Development course. Or, go all-in and become a job-ready developer our 12-week, full-time Web Development Immersive course, available on campus and online.

Preparation

  • A laptop is required for this workshop.
  • For those on Windows, you’ll need Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 (32- or 64-bit). For those with Macs, you’ll need the Mac OS X 10.8.5 or higher, up to 10.11.4 (El Capitan). Upgrade your operating system before class, if needed.
  • Basic technical aptitude and orientation to computers, and curiosity to learn new tools.

About the Instructor

Software Engineer, Compass

Nathan Miranda is a full-stack software engineer at Compass, a real-estate startup. He is responsible for building out a majority of the UIs and backend services that power the real estate search experience. Nathan has also previously worked at Knewton and J.P. Morgan. When he is not obsessing over the student experience, you can find him in the practice room, playing piano or saxophone, or even in the studio working on his latest beat.
