Take a deep dive into custom WordPress development by creating your own custom theme and plugin in a professional development environment. We will be digging into code to build a theme using Underscores, the popular starter theme from Automattic (the maintainers of WordPress.com). We will also be creating our own custom WordPress plugin to house additional functionality, and we will learn when it's best to use a theme and when it's best to use a plugin to achieve different tasks. In building our theme, we will use some modern front-end best practices including using CSS preprocessors (with Sass) and other modern build techniques. This class is intended for front-end and full stack developers, so an understanding of HTML and CSS is required. Please bring a computer with you and have access to GitHub. Further prerequisites will be publicized prior to the start of class.
HTML & CSS and basic PHP (or comparable server-side language), access to GitHub. Please bring a laptop to class. This bootcamp is intended for developers and we will be digging into WordPress code.
