The design process, especially for something as complex and ephemeral as a user's experience with a product and its UI, is much more about making good decisions than it is about making good artifacts. In fact, tens of thousands of coordinated decisions must be made. Rather than starting with the surface, learn, through sketching and critique how to start deep into the invisible decisions of strategy, scope and structure, and how those decisions can inform the design of the skeleton and the skin of your product.
From the pencils, paper and sketching process, from visual brainstorming and discovery sessions to work out the meaningfully different approaches to solve any given ux problem. We will walk through from a vague business wish to a concrete set of alternate approaches, all without opening a computer.
Please bring a pencil, a pen, an eraser to class with you. No prior design knowledge is required.
